I Never Saw This Coming

Nolan (3) is quite the character. I never know exactly what to expect from him, but this I never saw coming. A bit of background, our house is getting new siding. As part of the process, all of the outside windows had to be taken off. Meaning we have the inside windows, but no screens.

The other day he was playing quietly, alone in his room. An unusual, but very much welcomed event. After playing awhile, he comes out to the kitchen. He is beaming, like he had done a very good thing. I said hello to him, and he turns to me with his most winning grin, and exclaims, "Mom, I peed out the window!"

I was pretty much speechless, but somehow managed to convey to him that it really wasn't a good idea. Oh, Nolan, he sure does give me lots of things to blog about.

  1. I feel your pain. About a month ago Buddy decided that he could avoid a trip to the bathroom by opening our sliding glass door and peeing onto our deck.

We had quite the discussin about that! (when you are 3 1/2 I guess it seems reasonable)

  2. Hey you live in W.VA. and Uncle Ernie still likes to pee outside behind the shed. You can take a person out of West virginia but you can't take West Virginia out of a person {as he always says} Hopefully Nolan will wear underwear when he gets older. I know ,to much information. Aunt sis.

  3. I died laughing at this, I have three boys andI distinctly remember the first time they realized they could pee outside, after that they wanted to just pee wherever.

  4. LOVERLY! My boy tried to pee outside the other day. My excuse is that he is just learning. Of course, I also have a 10 yr old girl who wants to pee outside. Go figure.

  6. We're back adn I'm finally getting a little blog-reading time in! WOW! Great posts and a great WFMW tip. Too bad about your chickens. I so wish we could have some chickens where we live, but we're within the town limits and I'm on the council. It wouldn't look too good if I went against the rules. Sounds like Summer is in full-swing on the farm!
As for Nolan, he and Steven will get along famously! Kindred spirits, I tell you! :o) You never know what they'll do or say next!

  7. I had to laugh at this because I have a son who will pee ANYWHERE! It has been so hard to teach him that he can't do that! He has peed in the firework tent while buying fireworks, in the doghouse at the garage sale, in the parking lot facing the road, etc. I thought, at 8, that he had finally learned his lesson, when out of nowhere he starts to pee right outside of the church during Bible School last week. "sigh" Nothing surprises me with him anymore!!!

  8. Oh I'm so glad my boy isn't the only one who likes to pee everywhere but the toilet, but Sherry, I am happy to say with your eight year old you have me beat! :)

  9. Tell him to pee around the GARDEN,, not out the window! Keeps the deer out, or so I hear. I don't think it's working here. My best tomato plant got munched down to the nub. Our men folk must not have enough testosterone!
