Potty Talk

Stories only mothers of little boys can really understand:

Boys and their pee make for so many interesting stories. Nolan (3) has certainly given us many. When he first potty trained he would only pee outside. Then he started using the toilet, and I wished he'd go back outside so I wouldn't have to clean so much pee off the floor. Though he enjoyed our toilet, he refused to go anywhere but home, unless of course you let him pee outside.

When we first started potty training and he had to go #1 and #2 he would stand to pee, and then sit down to take care of the rest. A few months ago, he decided he wanted to sit down for all his business. Problem with that is the way he sat. The pee shot right through the crack between the toilet bowl and the seat. Yes, more pee on the floor. Ugh! He is helping to clean it up now!

I've been trying to teach him to direct his business part down. He isn't too thrilled about the idea. The other day I went in to help him wipe. (Ah yes cleaning up the poop and pee never seems to end.) He informed me that he did not pee on the floor this time. I congratulated him and asked if he had held his penis down so that he didn't pee on the floor. He responded, "No, Mommy. It is just all grown up."

I'm relating this story to Tim, and he tells me that he can top it. The other day when I wasn't home, Nolan was in the bathroom, doing his business. He called Tim in to help him wipe. When Tim went in the bathroom Nolan's hair was wet. Tim asked how his hair had gotten wet. Nolan showed him.

While sitting on the toilet, Nolan bent over, head between his knees, to watch himself pee. Well, I guess you can figure out what happened next. You're right honey, your story is better than mine!

Nolan gives us so much material; for laughs now and blackmail in the future!

  2. That is hilarious! Here a tip from my MIL: If they want to sit, let them stradle the potty facing the back (for #1). Everything will go right where it needs to without aiming. It worked for us!

  3. I have two boys, so I can relate. My youngest is the one who just can't seem to stop getting it all over the bathroom. "sigh" I'm glad that my daughter or Jeff and I don't have to share a bathroom with them. They have it all to themselves!!!

  4. That tops any I have from Steven or Matthew. Both of them have soaked pants and the floor by peeing under the seat, but neither has gotten their hair wet... yet. :o)

  5. So funny! My little guy, now 5, also refused to go pee or poop in the house. He would instead "poop like a puppy" in the yard. We live in town. He would also pee on the trees as we walked around the neighborhood. I bet our neighbors just love us. :O) Thanks for the memory!!

  7. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having a boy who is in the middle of potty training I SO understand. I'm not sure he's ever done anything that funny!!!
My son does the stand for #1 thing and sit for #2 thing now. When we are out though there is no step stool so he has to sit and inevitably shoots it through the crack all over his cloths, shoes etc.....

  8. My little girl is only 8 months old, but I sit her on a potty seat every now and then so it's not wierd or scary when we really get down to business. Anyway, just the other day she didn't do her usual little tinkle, it must have been a full bladder, and it shot out all over the floor! :D You'da thunk she was a boy from the mess. :D

    God Bless!

  9. Things to look forward to. William just turned 2 and has been going to the potty sporadically for about 5 months. (Primarily because we're STILL trying to potty train his 3-year-old sister, with no discernible success.) He's perfectly willing to sit on the potty chair, but he has to be completely naked first. He knows to aim, and usually can do pretty well. Yesterday he decided to sit facing the back of the potty chair. Instead of straddling it, he put his feet in the bowl. He peed very successfully. Every bit of it went in the bowl - with his feet.

  10. Lol That is too funny! We are in the really early stages of training my eldest son. He will sit on the seat ok but is not so great at going potty when he is sitting on the toilet. He will sit there and play with it leaving me freaked out that he will actually pee sometime and it will shoot all over the place.

  11. Hilarious! And why didn't I think to train my son to pee outside? Could've saved me many wasted hours scrubbing out the bathroom grout.
