My machine has been used to mend some items. Lydia, however, has been stealing away to Mamaw's every chance she gets to practice, and create her first project, a skirt. It is a simple, one seam, elastic waist skirt. Lydia did almost all of the sewing by herself. Mamaw added a decorative stitch at the bottom.
Lydia is so proud. She finished the skirt last week, and has already worn it twice. She is asking to start the next project that is yet to be named. I better get busy, or she will soon be out sewing me!
Lydia: That is the most beautiful skirt I have ever seen! You did such a wonderful job. I know your grandmother is very proud of you. Keep up the good work, I can tell you are going to be a great seamstress.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your next project.

ReplyDeleteLydia,
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is wonderful. I too wanted to learn how to sew and crochet when I was your age. I taught myself as my Mom didn't sew or crochet. You can do it too! Best wishes to you and I have a feeling that you are going to be a wonderful seamstresses.
Beautiful! what a wonderful thing that you both were given sewing machines, woo!
