Looking on the Bright Side - TT # 7

Tim has been working a lot of hours. There are many days when he is gone before the kids get up and not home until after they are in bed. It is normal for this time of year, and I could complain. . .for pages and pages. Instead, I am trying to think of thirteen things that are good about it:

1. The kids think peanut butter and jelly for dinner is a treat.

2. Hours of uninterupted blog surfing. . .once the kids are in bed.

3. Feel like a chick flick? No problem.

4. Thirty eight hours of overtime in a two week period makes for a nice paycheck.

5. It is temporary.

6. No Monday night football.

7. The bills are paid. The savings are growing.

8. Make your own raise. Every night of work is a boost in his commission check for the whole year.

9. I don't really need anything on the honey do list completed.

10. Leftovers don't seem like leftovers to Tim.

11. When he is home, the kids only want daddy! (read I get a break!)

12. Put the kids and bed the whole tub of ice cream is mine!

13. And the best thing. . . It is almost over! One more week!

There! I came up with thirteen good things. That was hard work!

Thursday Thirteen

  1. I don't watch Monday night football, it is on ESPN which is CABLE which we don't pay for. Ice cream?!? You have had ice cream in the past month? Time to watch movies?!? so not fair.

  2. Welcome to my world when the hubs is deployed!

  3. Now that's a great list of 13!

  4. Yay! No Monday Night Football! I wish I could say the same. :(

Good thing about my time away from my hunny is that I get to watch CSI in peace. :) Hurrah for Thursdays!

  5. It's always best to look on the bright side.

  6. I love it when I can make peanut butter and jelly for dinner! :)

    Happy TT!

  7. That's a great way to deal with it. Gosh, now I'm singing: "always look on the bright side of life, tada tada tadatada"... ;-)
My TT shows my Tinkerbell collection.

  8. I like it when people look at the bright side of a situation that others may complain about. Happy TT! You made me smile.

  9. Those are all awesome reasons to be thankful..and hey, whats wrong with PB&J for dinner?? I eat cereal all the time:) Happy TT.

  10. I think he's jealous about the ice cream. I know I am!

Enjoy the peace while he's gone -- and then show him how much you missed him when he gets home.

    Keep your chin up!

  11. You mean PB&J ISN'T a treat?? :-)

    cute list.

  12. My husband works away from home, a lot, and I have many nights where I make sammies or breakfast for dinner. Tonight they had "toad in the hole" and loved it!

    Great post! HAPPY TT!!

  13. Stephanie, I'm impressed that you could come up with such a positive list for a crummy situation. Great attitude! :)

So, since you participated last year, I’m stopping by to let you know that I’m hosting a 2nd Edition of my Holiday Cooking, Blogger Style recipe exchange!

I hope you can join me again this year on 5 October. And, would you mind helping me to spread the word by publishing a post about my holiday recipe exchange before next Friday? I’d sure appreciate it! I have the button in my most recent post.

    Thanks so much!

  14. I love that you are consciously thinking positively about your current situation. I think that's so important. It's one of my 13 practices that I'm trying to make into a habit that I posted about here. Pop by and let me know what you think of the other 12!

  15. OH NICE!! A chick flick and a tub of ice cream! Great combination. So glad you are taking it so positively. What will you do when it ends? LOL Happy TT...mine's up.

  16. I am sure it was hard to come up with 13 positive things, but you did and some of them sound awesome in the "temporary". Happy TT

  17. oh yeah, i'm with you on number 2. I love having uninterupted computer time for writing...or blogging...or whatever! {{{hugs}}] though because it's so much better when he's home!

  18. I get a chunck of this nearly everyday. DH works from noon to 8:30pm and has a 45 minute commute. So I get to see him for a bit before he goes to work and I get him breakfast and now I get to see him after work and before I go to bed. He used to work 3:30-midnight, so I only saw him when he woke up!

    God Bless!

  19. Wonderful glass-half-fulling.

  20. these are great I will try and use as many of them when my hubby goes away for 3 weeks to Everest in November

  21. Ha Ha! Sounds like a win\win situation!!!

  22. I understand. My husband works for a TV station in an NFL market, so from now until the season ends he has to work some outrageous hours on Sundays and Mondays. I liked your list of positives!

  23. Sorry..I'm just getting around to visiting TTers this week! I love this list! My husband also works long hours. I have this to add:

    13. I can have a schedule for my days that allows me to get everything done. No hubby interference!
