1/3 C unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp cloves
1/2 C softened butter

- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, cinnamon and cloves.
- In another bowl, cream the butter until soft. Gradually add sugar, beating until fluffy.
- Beat in the molasses and egg. Add flour mixture. Blend until a stiff dough forms.
- Roll dough (half or a quarter of the dough is easier to work with) on a lightly floured board to 1/8 to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut into favorite shapes. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
- Bake at 350 F for 10-12 minutes depending on thickness. Cool a minute on the sheet before removing to a rack to complete cool.
- Repeat with remaining batches. Store in a tin when completely cooled.
Yes, it is too bad that we can't actually exchange these cookies. But, this is the next best thing. I love cookie recipes - that is why I did this. Anyway, I love the sound of your recipe. I'll add this to the must try list. :>
