Did I say I was picking beans today?

After posting that, I was getting a few things finished up and heard the scream that every mother knows means someone is really hurt. It was Nolan. He and Lydia had been playing on a trailer and he fell, catching his inner thigh on the corner. When I saw all the blood on the ground, I was concerned. When I saw the fat bulging from the wound, I knew we were headed to the E.R.

Four hours later we left the ER with four stitches, and headed to the store for a prescription. Almost two hours later, we headed home where I now sit surrounded by laundry, garden produce and groceries piled around me, frozen by the enormity of my to do list. I thought that taking a small break to check email and blog would help, but I just looked into the kitchen and it still looks overwhelming. Ah, better get moving nothing is getting done with my rear in front of the computer!

  1. Sorry to bug you for such a silly thing in the middle of all that. Isn't that just the way?
Take it one thing at a time. I hope Nolan is feeling better soon. If he's anything like Steven... did I just type that? SINCE he's just like Steven he'll either milk it for all it's worth or he'll be bouncing around too much too soon and you'll have to keep reminding him that he's hurt and can't do that stuff. **sigh** Boys!

  3. Oh my! Only a mother knows the cry that means someone's really hurt. But I agree with Heather. You can only do one thing at a time. P.S. Sorry about my ornery husband giving your kids all those hershey kisses!

They really pick the most inconvenient times to get their war scars don't they?

  5. OMG! As a mother to a very active toddler -and a boy at that, I'm kinda afraid of something like this. I know you might be too jarred with this incident. Hope you're doing okay now.

And hope your Nolan, he'll recover quickly.

oh, i'm so sorry about nolan. we were just in the emergency room with isaiah too. he fell and put his top teeth straght through his bottom lip. and the worst part is, i was standing there and saw it happen and couldn't get to him in time. since it was a 'puncture wound' he didn't get any stitches or anything!! he was running around the emergency room making people laugh.

and about being overwhlemed. i don't know how you do it, i was standing in my kitchen sun afternoon bawling my eyes our becuase i was so stressed about everything i had to do and i don't do half as much as you!! but i do know the feeling.
